Description:A 100 core defamation and compensation law suits has been filed at Khulna Joint District Judge First Court in Khulna, Bangladesh (Case No 4) on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 against six people including Mrs. Jannatul Naima (wife of Mr. Atiqul Hasan) of Graduate Teaching Fellow (PhD) Candidate (Department of Accounting and Finance, University of Liverpool Management School, University of Liverpool, UK) for allegedly posted offensive, false and threatening status in Facebook on October 05, 2020 against a Professor in Bangladesh. The plaintiff’s lawyer, Md. Zakir Hossain has confirmed the matter. Journalist Sanjida Khan, the plaintiff in the case, has stated that the defendants including Mrs. Jannatul Naima had defamed her husband by intentionally and knowingly written, commented, shared, transmitted, published and propagated offensive, false and threatening information and also spreading derogatory propaganda in digital platforms and social media against her husband in order to annoy, insult, humiliate and malign her husband and her family. In addition, Mrs. Jannatul Naima is also accused for participating in coordinated cyber and digital crime activities under Digital Security Act and Criminal Act of Bangladesh while her staying in UK. As a result, Sanjida Khan (the plaintiff), her husband and her family have been humiliated at home and abroad, including in the society, family and workplace. That is why, a defamation and compensation case has been filed in the court to get justice and remedy.
